In Mother’s footsteps.

Raised in the picturesque mountains of Red River, NM, Amanda Kate Ferris was destined for the gypsy road life, having moved more than thirty-eight times by the time she turned 16. Her mother, Kathy Wright, believed that life should be lived on the open road as she graced the stage alongside luminaries like Bob Hope and Dean Martin in the "Dean Martin Golddiggers.” From bar stools to church pews, Ferris and her mother performed wherever they were given the opportunity. She was singing as early as two years old and developed her own voice in the church. Ferris added songwriting to her repertoire at age 14, looking again to follow in her mother’s footsteps as a full-time musician and artist. During her mother’s long sets at Honky Tonks between California, New Mexico, and Texas, she fell in love with the music of The Judds, Trisha Yearwood, and Brooks & Dunn, all of which heavily influenced her current sound.

The allure of the honky-tonk lifestyle led Ferris to Nashville in 2012 where she experienced the industry rollercoaster of late-night jam sessions, hard-earned victories, and humbling lessons – and even a brief receptionist gig at CMT where she dreamed of one day walking back through those doors as an artist. After several more cross-country moves, in early 2018, her mother's diagnosis of stage four terminal lung cancer brought them back together on a musical project that captured their mutual love for music and life's fleeting moments. The outcome, Ferris’ debut album aptly named Time, was a tribute to the significance of cherishing every passing second.

Now settled in Midlothian, TX with her husband and daughter, Ferris followed Time with two successful independently-released EPs. The first was self-titled Amanda Kate (2021) which dropped to rave reviews, including editorial placement on Spotify’s Texas Country Now, the largest Red Dirt Playlist. In early 2022, Ferris’ authentic sound and love for traditional Country sparked the interest of renowned producer Jimmy Ritchey (Clay Walker, Mark Chesnutt). The pair recorded five new tracks, reminiscent of the traditional country stylings of Ferris’ favorites from the 90s. The result was Pedal Steel (2023), which features songs written by GRAMMY-winners Lori McKenna, Lainey Wilson, Liz Rose, Hillary Lindsey and Luke Laird. With nearly 3M total career streams, Ferris’ tenacity and authenticity resonates with fans.

She recently won “New Female Vocalist of the Year” and was nominated for “Duo of the Year” (with Chad Cooke Band) at the 2024 Texas Regional Radio Music Awards. Her songs “Same Place Twice” with Chad Cooke Band and “Tequila and Jesus” hit No. 1 on Texas Country Radio in 2024 and her song “Pedal Steel” hit the Top 5 on the same chart. CMT also highlighted Ferris and “Pedal Steel” as a Next Up Now artist and video. “Tequila and Jesus” and “Pedal Steel” can be heard on her new album, Rope the Wind, out July 26.

Ferris has shared the stage with country music stars Tracy Lawrence, Josh Abbott Band, Priscilla Block and Warren Zeiders in addition to her own headline and festival dates. She has performed the national anthem on Thursday Night Football on Amazon Prime and captivated the crowd with her powerful vocals and stadium-filled stage presence. She also recently performed at NFR for the second consecutive year where she shared new music with thousands of fellow rodeo fans.
